Scientific methods of economy of water resources in Russia

Abstract

The present article is the second one of the three articles, based on the presentations, shown and discussed at the general session of the Earth Sciences Branch of the Russian Academy of Science on 14 December, 2009, which was devoted to the problem of correlation of energy efficiency and economy of resources. The article is based on the presentation of V. Danilov-Danilyan, Corresponding member of RAS, Director of the Institute of Water Problems of RAS. Scientific methods of economy of water resources in Russia, which possesses vast supplies of water resources, state of the art in this sphere of Russian economy were discussed. The article focused on the main problems related to economy of water in our country, on what was done and what has to be accomplished in order to significantly ameliorate the situation in this domain of the country's economy, including the top-priority measures, related to planning and operative management of water resources.
