Gas and oil complex of Russia and its role in maintaining high level of energy efficiency of Russian economy

Abstract

The present article is the third from the four articles, written on the basis of presentations, shown and discussed at the General Session of the Geosciences Branch of the Russian Academy of Science on 14 December 2009. The session was devoted to discussion of the problem of correlation between energy efficiency and economy of resources. The article is related to the presentation of academician of RAS A. Kontorovich (Institute of Geology, Oil and Gas of Siberian Branch of RAS). Problems related to development of gas and oil complex of Russia and its role in ensuring efficient development of economy of the country were discussed. The article focused on the main problems of development of petrochemical industry. Comparative analysis of the situation of gas and oil industry in Russia and other countries of the world was carried out. Expensive energy efficiency measures and ways of technological improvement of this sphere of economy were also discussed.
