Spatial variations of elsatic anisotropy of rocks in the upper part of the lithosphere

Abstract

Data on variations of spatial distribution of elastic properties anisotropy of the Kola Superdeep borehole (KSDB) core obtained during last years and samples of rocks – analogues of the KSDB core collected from the surface along the straight sections have been analyzed. Distribution of variations of the core elastic properties anisotropy (along the borehole) and of samples-analogues (along the sections) is wave-shaped which suggests a certain wave control of this distribution. On the base of the fact that elastic anisotropy of rocks is a consequence of their stress-deformed state the conclusion was done that geodynamic processes in the lithosphere are wave controlled.
