Abstract

While highlighting the explosive growth over the last 15 years of electronic publications comparable for its significance to no less than the emergence of writing or book printing, the article focuses on the latest achievements in the field in terms of a dynamic and interactive scientific content. The possible inclusion of the latter into a scientific publication is illustrated by examples of articles from journals of the Geophysical Center RAS. The article addressed mainly to authors, gives a brief history of the development of electronic publishing, with links to major publications in the area and recommendations of several major world forums, initiated by UNESCO and leading international scientific organizations.
