On possible strong aftershock in the area of the Great Japanese earthquake 3/11/2011

Abstract

The seismic mode of the area of the Great Japanese earthquake 3/11/2011, M=9 is investigated. A few features of aftershock sequence of this strong earthquake testify for possibility of occurrence of a new strong aftershock. The multifractal analysis of microseism field testifies for the general recession in activity of geophysical media (the most considerable in the main source zone), nevertheless the relative activity of the geophysical media to the north and to the south from the aftershock area of 03/11/2011 earthquake was revealed. The assumption of possibility of strong aftershock in these two areas is come out. The greater potential danger is connected with the area located to the south from the epicenter zone because of a close location of this zone to Tokyo.
