Incorporation of the observatory data into the DOI citation system

Abstract
Currently, the role of knowledge-metric parameters applied for evaluation of the effectiveness of research institutions is notably increased. Different quantitative indicators are used, among which the publication activity and citation are of prime importance. The DOI (Digital Object Identifier) citation system has long been used for scientific publications. Approaches to the DOI assigning for the geomagnetic observatory data and to the global data sets collected in the World Data Centers (WDC) are discussed. Incorporation of the observatory data into various index and citation systems is important for data distribution and preservation, and copyright protection.
