Abstract

Sheet-like bodies of Early Proterozoic nickel-bearing mafite-ultramafites, discordant with respect to the folded structures of host Archaean rocks, have been recognized on the south-east of the Aldan-Stanovoi shield. They are located in the zone controlled by the regional NW deep fault in the junction area of the Dzhaninskiy and Tuksaniyskiy blocks of the crystalline basement. Chemically and minerally they correspond to the rocks of the peridotite-pyroxenite-gabbronorite formation and are distinguished as separate Kunman'yonskiy complex named after petrotypal locality. The sulfide copper-nickel mineralization is associated with them. The ore deposits are made up of impregnated, streaky-impregnated, breccia-shaped and massive (vein) ores. The mineral composition of the ores is pentlandite-pyrrhotite-chalcopyritic. The geologic structure, age, morphology and conditions for the occurrence of the ore bodies, textures and mineral composition of the ores of copper-nickel deposit Kun-Man'yo are described.

It is recognized that within the Aldan-Stanovoi shield the bodies of mafite-ultramafites form a belt extending from the settlement of Ayan on the east up to the settlement of Chool'man on the west. A regular change in the rock composition along the strike of the belt from east to west is recognized: from gabbronorites-olivine pyroxenites (Lantarsky and Geransky massifs) through websterites and lherzolites (Kun-Man'yonsky massif) up to lherzolites-harzburgites (Tooksaniisky offshoot, Uhtook-Mahkit). In the same direction the type of sulfide mineralization is changed: massive pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite ores of Nyandomi and Bogide occurrences, disseminated pyrrhotite-pentlandite-chalcopyrite ores of Kun-Man'yo occurrence, pyrrhotite-pentlandite ores with low-sulfide PGM mineralization of the Uhtook-Mahkit occurrence. The recognized specific features of the copper-nickel mineralization associated with the belt of the intrusions give an insight into the development of copper-nickel ore magmatic systems.

New data on geology and metallogeny of the Lantarsky, Geransky and other autonomous gabbro-anorthositic massifs with a glance of the scale of their development make it possible to give a high assessment of the prospects of these objects with respect to Ni, Cu, Co and PGE.
