Abstract

The Annual Seminar on the Experimental Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry was held on 17 and 18 April 2012 in Moscow. The seminar was organized by the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry and the Institute of Experimental Mineralogy and was financially supported by Russian Foundation for Basic Research (grant 12-05-06010) and the Department of the Earth Sciences of Russian Academy of Sciences The seminar was attended by scientists from more than 30 Russian research and educational centers. Foreign researchers from Armenia, Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain and France were among the authors of reports.

The recent results of the most important problems of the experimental, theoretical and applied petrology, mineralogy and geochemistry on different problems of the geochemistry were discussed at the seminar: mineral formation at high temperatures and pressures; evolution and properties of magmatic melts; hydrothermal equilibriums and ore formation; experimental and computer modeling in the solution of problems in planetology, meteoritics and cosmochemistry; thermodynamic properties of minerals and fluids; physical and physics-chemical properties of geological materials; problems of geoecology; biomineralogy; the experimental technique and applied studies.

The annual seminar was first organized by the professor N. I. Khitarov in 1960 to order to unite the scientists in the experimental physics-chemical studies in the Earth sciences continues to enjoy the large popularity.
