Pushkov. The author invites fellow geophysicists to talk about the problems of national geophysical science. A paradoxical point of view is expressed that the main problem that dooms Russian geophysics to inevitably lag behind the world level is not so much insufficient funding as lack of free access to data. Examples of high-level scientific products characterizing planetary or regional features of geomagnetic disturbances that were developed due to free access to world data on space geophysics are given: ULF power index, virtual magnetograms, and magnetic keograms. The question is raised about the need to introduce new geomagnetic indices for the territory of the Russian Federation.
