Kudryavtseva1 1Geophysical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (GC RAS), Moscow, Russian Federation AbstractThe article is devoted to a review of the scientific reports presented in 2024 by scientists of the institutes of the Department of Earth Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences. During the meetings of the Department of Earth Sciences RAS Bureau, scientists presented the history of research and key results of modern scientific work, advanced techniques and equipment, current issues, trends, and prospects. The scientific sessions were devoted to deep-sea resources (hydrogen and its extraction), modern problems of isotope geochemistry, fundamental and applied research to improve the safety and efficiency of the oil and gas industry in the Arctic, solving problems of scientific and technological development of Russia in oceanology and geography, as well as mineralogical technologies and research of mineral-like materials. The Bureau held some scientific sessions within the framework of joint meetings with the academic councils of institutes under the scientific and methodological guidance of the Department of Earth Sciences RAS. Representatives of the Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth of the RAS and the P. P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of RAS told about the history of their institutes, key research, achievements, and plans. Based on the presented materials, the author concludes that in 2024, the key research of the institutes of the Department of Earth Sciences RAS was diverse and relevant, had both fundamental and applied nature, and the results made a significant contribution to the scientific and technological development of Russia. The author used reviews of meetings published in the Vestnik ONZ RAS, as well as recordings of broadcasts and materials from her archive.
